What Art Means to Me – Thipop Promlikitchai

By definition, art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. In simpler terms, art is what we find enjoyable for ourselves. From photography to music to acting to painting, everything is a form of art. The simple three-lettered word has a broad definition that extends beyond what one can possibly think of. Art is a part of everyday life, but many people underestimate its significance. When we walk past a tree, we solemnly stop to observe the faint green tinge of the leaves and the patterns on the trunk; however, when we walk around in an art gallery, we makeup beautiful stories to justify the simplicity of that piece.
Art is subjective, but how can we distinguish between fine art and a beautifully painted canvas? To me, all art is the same. It is a form of self-expression. It can never be critiqued as below such any standards because it is a matter of personal opinion. I wouldn’t say this is exactly what art means to me because there are a few things about art that I cannot find the right word for. This is just a description of Art on a surface level.
